With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we remember and honor the life of Milton Days, a 48-year-old man whose life was tragically lost Tuesday night in East Cleveland. His passing has left family, friends, and the community grappling with shock and grief, as another life is taken far too soon under heartbreaking circumstances.

According to reports, officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was driving recklessly near Hayden and Shaw. Milton was a passenger in that vehicle. Police stated that when an officer activated lights and sirens, the vehicle initially pulled over. However, as the officer opened the door to exit the patrol car, the vehicle suddenly sped away, prompting a brief pursuit.
The officer initiated a chase but made the decision to terminate it once speeds approached nearly 50 miles per hour. Despite the pursuit being called off, the vehicle continued fleeing at a high rate of speed. A short time later, officers located the vehicle after it had crashed. Tragically, Milton was found pinned beneath the wreckage.
Emergency responders rushed him to the nearest trauma center in hopes of saving his life, but despite their efforts, Milton Days was pronounced deceased. At this time, there has been no public update regarding the condition of the driver.
Beyond the details of the incident, Milton was a person with a life, a past, and people who cared deeply about him. He was more than a passenger in a tragic crashโhe was a son, a friend, a loved one, and someone whose life held value and meaning. His loss serves as a painful reminder of how quickly moments can change and how fragile life truly is.
As the East Cleveland community mourns, we extend our deepest condolences to Miltonโs family and loved ones. May they find strength during this unimaginably difficult time, comfort in shared memories, and peace in knowing that Milton will not be forgotten.
This tragedy also brings renewed reflection on the consequences of high-speed situations and the ripple effects they have on families, first responders, and entire communities. Lives are forever altered in moments like these, leaving behind grief that lingers long after the sirens fade.
